Default Vortech V-3 SCi trim on a 1993 cobra mustang

Anybody have any experience with vortech's v-3 sci trim supercharger yet? I just ordered it for my 1993 cobra because it is self lubricating and just puts 5-6 psi of boost. I keep my mods limited due to it being a cobra. Its in excellent shape but I've got the itch for a little more power. 3.73's, exhaust, short throw shifter, underdrive pulleys, and drag radials have already been installed. I was going to go with paxton but they said I would need a taller hood due to clearance issues on the cobras. However I'm not changing my stock hood. This vortech looks to be the perfect alternative, plus it can easily be upgraded, though I doubt I'd upgrade it over the 6psi. Have any of you used this supercharged this kit? Ill post my impressions after I install it. I also got the fmu that recalibrates for the 24lb injectors so all should go smoothly. I'd love to get others opinions on this setup. Later.

Ya, the update is that it's all bad. I have a massive backfire under decel that I can't get to go away. I should have left it stock, it ran great and was fun to go for a cruise with my wife. Now I can't even drive it. Not getting any help or ideas from Vortech's tech support either. Waste of $2000!

i would ditch the fmu and get 42lbs inj. and get a custom tune to be safe, also make sure you run a blow off valve. that could be your backfire problem if you arent running one.

I put all the stock pulleys back on. I'm going to try the blow off valve and see if that helps.

i am almost positve that is your problem, like you said it backfires when you let off the gas right? what is happening is all that air that the blower is producing has no place to go. all vortechs blower kits should include one i dont know why the lower boost kits dont, it makes a big difference in drivability. also find a good tuner and get a custom tune.

Problem is fixed! All I had to do was disconnect the vacuum line going to the diverter valve and anti backfiring valve off the smog pump and now the car runs fine. The car rips! I had to back the timing down to 8 degrees base to get rid of the small amount of pinging. Now I'm roasting the tires and cruisin like I should have been 5 weeks ago!

Yup that's what you needed to resolve the backfiring, I agree to AT Least put your stock Crank damper pulley back on!
Now put a smaller pulley on the V3 Head Unit and UP the Boost!!
Yeah 8 degrees of timing sounds perfect, you could up it to 10 with 93 Octane and colder range plugs gapped to .035!
