Default question about air to air intercooler vs meth injection

hey just curious, does one method have any intercooling advantage over the other, besides fabing the air to air pipeing.

Well, the intlet temps i'm not sure of, but with the air to air set up your going to drop a few psi of boost compared to the meth set up. With meth you also gain the extra octane from the methanol if you are using a methanol based fluid. Someone correct me if i'm wrong about that. With pump based meth kit you always run the risk of a blown fuse, pump going bad, empty tank, clogged meth nozzle etc...+ you have the extra expense of filling it all the time. This set up requires much more attention than the conventional air to air. I know cuz i run it on my car lol. The Mr. Freeze kit is a lil less complicated, but has the same flaws. It requires a vacuum source and wouldn't work well for ya if you had a kinked line or vacuum leak....... I would go with air to air if i had to do it over again. Just less mantenance and no moving parts to fail......

well thats probably a good idea, i guess the vortech aftercooler would be my best bet.

A quality Air to Air is a better choice in my opinion!!
There's lots of crap out there but reputable companies like Paxton and Procharger make very good quality Intercoolers PLUS when you see one mounted behind the front bumper people know you mean business!! And FYI well constructed vertical fin Air to Airs cost hardly any boost(maybe 1lb)

A/A is a bit harder to install. Meth's ability to cool intake charge is less affected by slight ambient air changes, and the the heat soaking of an A/A caused by repeated hard pulls. Maybe a little less tuning required depending on the setup you have after installing the front mount. Have owned cars with either but never both. My decision to install a Mr. Freeze kit on my current car was affected primarily by the ease of installation and price. My A/A car (a medeium modified turbo eclipse) used to suffer a little heat soak on hot days with repeated pulls. Ultimately I also will install a front mount inter cooler because I intend to use both to get as close to ambient air charge as possible, and if I ever get the money to build a stout short block, apply high levels of boost. On my 95 gt, the A/A install will require a decent amount of work, and will take alot longer to complete the install versus my Mr. Freeze install. With the A/A, u don't have to sweat fluid levels and refills and such, but for me, it's no problem to open my hood every couple of days. i do that anyway because the damn car is 15 years old. As much as I like my Mr. Freeze, if I had to do it again, I probably would have purchased one of the more expensive kits. Don't get me wrong, the kit workes great, but if your driving the car everyday for long distances, and you generally put your foot in it along the way (within reason of course) the more expensive kits give you a litle bit better fluid use control and have a larger tank.(My friend has a Snow Meth kit on a Subaru WRX, and his tank lasts much longer than mine, and he's pushing more average boost than I am.)
Results of my Mr. freeze, 30 degrees, spout out, timing with no timing retard and about 11 lbs boost on bone stock 94 5.0. Almost pure meth with the smallest jet. It really made a difference and I was finally happy with the power level that my car makes with the S-Trim on a stock head/intake/tb car. I know that's alot of timing, and I will let you know if anything breaks. Every car is different, but either or both will allow much more timing advance and more boost, which equate to higher "safe" power levels.
