Default Intercoolers...

Hey, just wondering how an intercooler would work on a roots or twin screw s/c?

And would an intercooler from, lets say vortech, work with a twin screw s/c?

I think a vortech uses an aftercooler, it would not work cuz the intake goes through the aftercooler, unlike on an Eaton or something.

Err, yeah, Voterch uses an aftercooler. Procharger uses an intercooler. Now back to those questions...

You'd have to have a custom intake manifold made (and that's just the beginning of what must be custom made) that holds an air-to-water aftercooler core, e.g what the 2nd generation F150 SVT Lightning has, since most all Lyscholm and positive displacement compressors are mounted atop the engine. BBK used to market a positive displacement compresor that was mounted to the side of the engine so adding an aftercooler to that equation would have been (relatively) easy.

And this whole "intercooler"/"aftercooler" terminology has been bastardized beyond recognition. THEY ARE ALL AFTERCOOLERS IF THEY "COOL" THE AIR AFTER IT WAS COMPRESSED.
