Default Super or Turbo?

I am thinking about Supercharging or Turbocharging the mustang this winter. Which are the good ones to buy and which would be better. The car is not drivin to much, but that might all change after a charger on it. What is the big difference in the Turbo vs. Super. Which one has the bigger gains for the dollar amount that it costs? Any information that you could give would be much appreciated in this decision.
Thanks everyone.
Marco

The Turbo has a big advantage power-wise, but it is a bit more expensive.
Prices for Turbos have gonne down lately thanks to more people running with them.

SC's need HP to turn, the crank has to move the SC. Not so with turbos, that use exhaust flow to work.

Turbos are also harder to install and tune, thats why not many people use them. SC's are actually more like a bolt-on deal.

At the same PSI a turbo can deliver lots more HP than a SC.

Here are some turbo vendors.

there are basically 2 types of superchargers centrifugal and postive displacement (and under positive displacement there are 2 types.)
centrifugal's are the ones that look kinda like snail shells and sit in the left or right of the engine. (Paxton, Vortech, Ati etc.)

Then there are the positive diplacements that basically sit on top of your engine and replaces the intake manifold. two models there, the Roots (03 Cobra, Saleen) and the twin screw. (Kenne Bell)

centrifugals tend to make the majority of their hp high in the powerband the positive displacement lower, the faster you spin the engine the more hp the centrifugals make. (depending on pully size and boost of course)

as far as roots vs twin screw the twin screw will make more hp while running same boost because of its better design, the twin screw is more efficient and doesnt run and discharge as hot.

those are just the bare basics but you can read a great article here http://www.superchargersonline.com and learn alot. (look towards the bottom right hand corner for Superchargers A-Z)

Take a look at this link for a discussion of turbos vs superchargers:

Go turbo and you will never regret it. I just had Total Performance put mine in and with a Brand New King Cobra Clutch it slips at 3psi of boost. Boost comes in at 2200-2500 and pulls until you pull your foot off. This is common on city streets because as fast as you want to accellerate you need to let off because of rate of acceleration. I had a 175 shot of NX before this and it did hit like a ton of bricks but this thing hits like that at just 5-8psi of boost but the clutch and tires are burning up at same time. Go to www.turbosn95.com and look at Chris' Car and you will see the true potential of a stock block and a turbo. I do not like superchargers as they always seem to wait too long to make power. Seems they do not start until 3500-4000 which is fine at track but not on street. Unless you go Kenne Bell or similar. Turbo setup is Intercooled much more efficient as it does not Rob Crank HP and so much more torque.

www.nothingbutperformance.com talk to Brad and tell him Rick from Milwaukee sent you.
