Default What is the difference between 87-93 and 94-95 involving Superchargeing kits?

I see seperate part numbers for these kits. Different pricing, etc.

Could the difference be the hardware in the kit?

I'm really considering adding a super to my Ranger and it is basically a '94 Cobra motor. As you can see in my gallery some adaptation was done to the inlet piping to clear the AC box so I doubt the piping supplied in the kit will work.

That doesn't concern me much though.

What does is adding another belt and pulleys to the front of the stock belts and pulleys. I'm running dual fans on a custom radiator and there is only about an inch between the water pump pulley and the fans. It has a surpentine setup btw.

Even this can be overcome.

So back to the question. What is difference?

The best way to do this is to call the company that you want to get a supercharger from and ask them if particular kit will fit. Get dementions if you have to.

No doubt that will happen, but I'm trying to educate myself as much as possible so I can ask the right questions when the time comes.

Do you have a particular brand + model your looking at? You could always just find the room to install it and custom fabricate your own bracket and induction tubes. By the looks of what you've done to that truck, you definitely got the skills. I doubt if you buy a kit that it will fit anyhow. Talk to you later.

Ok, I called Vortec.

The '94-'95 had a smaller engine compartment. This requires a relocation swap between the alternator and air pump to give the super proper clearance.

Another difference is the routing of the intake manifold inlet. It bends to the front. The '87-'93 comes strait out of the intake.

They also mentioned a change in the timing chain cover. He could not tell me the actual difference here.

Anyone want to take a stab at that difference?
