Default Vortech supercharger questions

Hello I have finally decided to buy a Vortech s-trim for my 2003 GT. I already have the basic bolt ons: FMPP headers, K&N FIPK. BBK x-pipe and Flowmaster exhaust. I have 4.10 gears sitting in my garage, which I have been told to swap for 3.73's if I go blower. I see that the supercharger kits come with a computer chip, so my question is will that chip fix my speedo problems or do I need to buy someting else when I do the gears? Also, would the Steeda timing adjuster be a waste of money? Do I still need it even thought the blower comes with the chip? Thanks a lot

The chip that comes with the kit is "general purpouse", meaning it is not optimized, you should ask Vortech to burn it using as a basline the mods you already have including the gears.

That, or take the car to a Dyno shop and have the chip reburned and exactly matched and calibrated for your mods/altitude etc.

My chip that came with my kit wasn't even close. I had to get a custom dyno tune to get everything correct. The chip can be used to correct for gears. Mine is. I would go 3.73's for a blower car. The timing adjuster may be a waste of money.

Can you adjust the timing with their chip? Also, would you guys go the blower route over nitrous? Sorry for dumb questions, I'm new to the 4.6 world. Mana, why Procharger over Vortech?

Because Procharger has an intercooler for one. They make a lot higher numbers then vortechs do. I also like the fact that they are self contained and you don't have to tap the oil pan. You cannot adjust your chip yourself unless you have the burner and the software. You must also know how to tune.

Yeah....the chip Voretch sends with the 4.6 are 'Ok' at BEST......otherwise, throw it in the trash and give Diablo a call. IMO, Diablo makes the BEST custom chips...espacally on blown cars!

Hope this helps!
