Question Is my bypass valve defective?

When is the bypass valve supposed to close? Boost gauge & FMU do not see boost at WOT on KB SC. I'm going nuts. It's open at idle & I assume it's open at WOT since the fuel pressure doesn't increase & the boost gauge sits at 0. Thanks.

The bypass valve is open when there is manifold vacuum. When there is no manifold vacuum, it closes.

Any idea how much pressure is needed to close it? I'm running 6# pulley and I'm guessing that it isn't closing because boost gauge doesn't read boost and FP doesn't go up w/ FMU. But both do register when I apply air from hand pump. Boost gauge read 5# and FP went up to the 90's when I did it to the FMU hose. Is there something I could do/try. Thanks.

It's not pressure to close it. It should be closed when there is NO vacuum applied to it. When the car is running and there is vaccum it should be open. You need to check to see if it is open or closed when the car is off. It should be closed.

It's closed when off. Is that something I really need? On the KB base model there is no by-pass. I believe it's standard on the flowzilla intake (I guess because you can run more boost because of the increased flow). Anyway isn't that there for those running alot of boost, especially after the throttle blade is closed like right after a WOT run? I don't know what else to do or look for. Before I installed it I spun the pulley and there was air being pushed out. And if there was a big leak I should hear/see/smell something, right? (oil, antifreeze, whistling) Thanks.
