Default Worried about runnin lean....

I was wonderin if i could retard the timing on my 88 lx 5.0 for the time being (while i dont have a high flow fuel pump) to pump a lil extra gas into the cylinder to protect my engine from pre-detonation. I am only gonna run about a 75 or 100 shot of nitrous. I have the spark already (bousch double platnum plugs), my only worry is runnin lean.
Also, I was wonderin what is the stock rating on the stock fuel pump and would an adjustable fuel regulator be suficant on protecting on the lean condition?

yes you can retard your timing to discourage detonation. The factory timing usually works and you dont want to go below that too much, so it would be in , lowering temp, higher fuel grade, colder spark plugs, or more fuel. An adjustable regulator might work but is never recommended on a stock motor usually.

The first time you spray it youre going to burn the plat right off.I ran stock timming while spraying the 75 shot.Never had any probs just make sure youre tune up is good,New cap.rotar, wires ect.U should be fine w/ stock timming w/ this.Now/ w/ the 100 shot i might retard her alittle bit mab 5deg.Just to be sfe just remeber to lift if you here the dreaded knock

The fist thing you need to do is get rid of the junk plugs and get som autolite 23's the retard your timming 2 degrees per 50 hp
