I just bought a gmc 6V-71 to stick on top of my 289 .I figure I can fabricate a manifold but as I want to keep it as low as possible I going to have problems with the imput drive and the distributer wanting to occupying the same space.Is there an easy solution to this or will I have to fabricate an angle drive for it.

Call Blower Drive Services (BDS) they have a flat type distributor for the small block Ford. While your at it, they already have a manifold for that application.

Or look into a belt drive distributor.

thanks for the link but I was hoping to make the manifold about 3 " high so only the air cleaner pokes out through the hood( Don't want to scare too many rice rockets).A belt drive dizzy sounds interesting do you know who makes them?

Jesel has a belt drive setup, but you would have to run their belt drive cam setup to use it.

Another route to go would be distributorless ignition from MSD. Go to MSD’s site and do a search for “distributorless”

Both look good but Expensive!

A fitter and turner at work sugested making an angle drive for the distributer Unfortunatly he didn't offer to make it .I might look into that as well

Yeap! Both would run in the area of $1000.00+ U.S.

I'd still look at BDS's distributor. Even if you went with some kind of angle drive, it would probably be as tall as BDS
