I have a new mustang 2000gt with saleen bodykit and rims...with a procharger and intercooler @9psi with 42LB injectors and cobra r fuel tank and pump, stage 2 clutch..eibach springs 2'drop and max motorsports caster camber plates and 265 at the front and 295 at the back in new condition..
the quistion is i keep on losing control of the car when shifting from 1 to 2 at 5500rpm the rear end spins of,this was the second time that happens to me..im i not sposed to rev so hi on first gear or im i too heavy footed on second gear..
This is my first time to drive or own such a powerful car, and just would like some advice on the best way to get good time on 0-60 mph.
my car is on 420Rhp..
you could try using a less aggressive gear, maybe 3.55's. changing the upper and lower control arms can also help plant all that power. or you could ultimatley just shift at a lower rpm.
we have a couple of guys here with blowers, im sure one will chime in.
thanx stonecold..i will try the next time to shift on a lower rpm on first..and maybe invist on some new strong control arms later..coz i also have a boost pipe that i want install!! :thumbsup
lets see some pics, sounds very nice. my advice was already said. less agressive gearing and control arms. maybe even one of those drag springs kits?

the 3.55's should do the trick for sure...........that car is gonna bust off some great times at the track with those gears...........hotwheels of turborides

yes desert stang..i'd like to keep my front to tyres on the road...
badass im going to post some good pics of the car..just waiting to talk out in day time,
i always talk it out at night..thanx for the advice but im going to try to get use to it,and see if there is some other way like by shifting earlier or getting control arms, just rather not change anything coz its tuned for 3.73 and i'd have to even more money!!
Ive seen alot of other mustang owners with the same setup..and they do it,maybe just need more practice..
I have that problem in my 1-2 and 2-3 shift also. The solution I've come up with is to keep my foot out of it in first gear (only boost a couple of pounds), then ease into it in second gear. Some good rubber always helps you along too.
thanx mana..nice to hear some one else with the same problem,I have realy good rubber, pretty new 295 on the rear Bridgstone's..just thinking if i need to doubl clutch or something to get it right..
you got a good track time, was that on slicks?
i never actually understood the whole "double clutch" thing. what is the whole point of it anyway, all it would do is slow you down.

Nope. That was on street tires, burning out through first second and third gear. Double clutching won't help. You just need to ease into the throttle and not bang the gears. I need to practice what I preach though
yea what is double clutching? i have no clue what people are talking about when they say i double clutched it. What you poping the clutch twice.
Ill tell you the best thing to do wear a helmet, and drive it like you stole it and dont be scared all your life if your gonna wreck your gonna wreck. Take off in first real hard and keep your foot mashed to the floor and powershift it into second like you stole it so what if it burns the tires? what you dont expect the tires to brake loose when you hit 2nd with a supercharger on it?
