If i decide to get a super charger for my mustang is it a must to get forged internals? Or can i run the stock bottom for awhile? If i do run the stock how long do you think it will last me?
Thanks, Kevin

no, it is not a must....unless you plan on doin some heavy duty track time..........but for street and strip you will be fine.........you look at turbo's yet? you may want to do some shopping around and see which power adder will benefit your needs..........hotwheels

It's the tune that's really important. With a good tune and 6-8 pounds of boost your engine will last a long, long time. That should give you about a 40% increase in HP.

I have a stock bottom end with a Kenne Bell on it pushing 11lb and it runs fine. I'm making over 430rwh. The stock internals are alot stronger than some people might think. I also had nitrous on this same stock bottom end. It is just fine.
Say you DID have to change the internals, what would you have to change and how much would it cost? Also, would a new tuneable chip have to be installed?

All internals are stock. You can buy a short block capable of 600hp for under $3grand. You should definately get your car tuned with a blower intsall. Make sure to get the a/f right so that there is no detonation.
I ran boost on my 95 for two years without an issue. Before I sold it I do think the internals were on borrowed time with 470rwhp SAE. Two things that made it last, at least IMO, were a solid tune and I didn't always hammer it. It was mainly a street car that saw little track time. If it had been the other way around, the internals may have gone south much sooner with 11-13lbs of boost.
