Question questions about supercharging 4.6

Hi! I recently purchased a 1999 S-281 Saleen Mustang that was supercharged after-market.
It has a Vortec SQ Supercharger with a 12 lb pulley (the pulley part is where I get confused!), but I can find no evidence of an intercooler and don't even know if I need one or not! The car has very low mileage, runs likes a dream, passed all the mechanic's tests and smog with flying colors and is running at about 355-360 hp. I bought it from a very reputable Motorsports company in So. Calif. so I know they knew what they were doing. I'm just looking for some education for myself I guess and if I can find a way to make it even faster and keep it smog legal that would be even better! We had to take off the Bassani X-Pipes because it wouldn't pass smog with them on. Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

I wouldnt run more boost without an intercooler, but you have to know first if you already have one, it could be an aftermarket intercooler which would be a large radiator-like thing in front of the rad or bellow it, it has to be connected to the Supercharger.
It could also be an AFTERCOOLER....click here

Also, more boost means MORE FUEL NEEDS, if it goes LEAN you can blow a head gasket or a piston.
Take it to a good shop, they will know whats needed to get more HP out of your combo and more importantly how to tune it. You might need larger injectors, a custom chip, larger fuel pump, etc.

By the way, to get more boost (& HP) you could install a smaller diameter SC pulley..but beware of the above, dont just drop a pulley in there.

Thanks guys! I found a good shop here in Sacramento and will have it looked at! It is a gorgeous car! It is Chrome Yellow with Chrome Yellow wheels. I have no desire to drag race it or even hot rod it (Been there done that!). I'm more at the stage now where I want to go to car shows and just enjoy meeting other people who love cars as much as I do! I will have to admit that I did not expect the car to attract as much attention as it has! Everywhere I go, people flock to me to check it out. Interestingly enough though, I also have a 1994 Toyota Supra (not Turbo) and have at least 4 or 5 people knocking on my door every week (I'm not kidding!) BEGGING to buy it and the paint is trashed! I was out back one day and my husband was actually thinking about selling it (He does not share my passion for cars-but I think he will think twice about trying to sell one of my "kids" again!). I have pictures, but am a computer idiot so I will have to wait until my husband gets home from work and can show me how to post them (However, notice I managed to figure out how to buy the Mustang!). I really appreciate all your help and will letyou know what I find out! I definitely want to do the very best for the car because the previous owner did some nice body and suspension upgrades (carbon fiber hood, dash covers, gear shift, etc.) and took perfect care of the car. It's in showroom condition with a letter from Saleen stating it is a one of as kind (Only one made that year with yellow wheels).

http://forcefedperformance.com/ ... They just moved to Sacramento... I highly recommend them. I was thinking of taking my car there for a retune. I just need to come up with some cash

Thumbs up

Thank you Matt! I'll go there! Sounds great! I really LOVE this car and am having a great time with it! It takes me back to the old days when they put big engines in cars stock! My first car was a 68 Camaro SS and I expect a car to go somewhere when I step on it! I really was at a loss as to where to take it and I appreciate your info greatly!
