Yeah, it'll work. Lot's of early turbo cars used carbs. There's two ways to go. You can either use a blow through setup, where the turbo blows air into the carb, or you can use a suck though, where the carb sits on the turbo inlet and the turbo sucks air through the carb. The blow through is a better way to go. You get better fuel atomization. You'll really only need two specialized parts. A carb that can handle positive pressure, which you can modify a standard Holley 4150 with little problems. You'll also need a carb enclosure or elbow to direct the compressed air into the carb.

The key to making it run right is all in the tuning. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE IT DYNO TUNED BY SOMEONE WHO KNOWS WHAT THEY'RE DOING! Otherwise you're going to have a very expensive hunk-o-crap on your hands.

Sure you can use a auto with a turbo. Hell, Grand Nationals and GNX's only came with autos, and they're some of the fastest stock turbo cars around. You'll want to run a higher stall torque converter though. I'd go with a 2500rpm stall. The headers might be a little difficult to come by. I assume by your screen name that you've got a '78. To my knowledge I don't think anyone makes a kit for the Mustang II's. You'll need to fab up everything yourself. You might be able to make a kit for a Fox body or pre-'68 Mustang to work. I don't know though, you'd have to call around, get some measurements, and check the clearances on your own car to see if they'd work.

If you're truely interested in running a turbo you NEED to read Maximum Boost by Corkey Bell. There's more to running a turbo car than just slapping everything together. It's definately the best $30 you'll spend on the project.

I would also invest in a boost referenced fuel pressure regulator and an msd boost timing master . That way you'll have alot more tuning capabilities .

you can most definetely do a turbo carb setup. There are quite a few cars out there running deep into the 8's and high 7's using blowthrough carb setups. Im currently working on a Carbed 302 with a PT67 for my 85 RX7

You may wanna check out this website if you are using a Holley/Barry Grant (4150 series) carb. There are many little mods to be done http://www.hangar18fabrication.com/blowthru.html

I currently know several people that have blow through carb'd turbocharged motor's and they kick booty.........feel free to check out my site at www.turborides.com for some great reading material...........hotwheels
