Question 302 rebuild upgrade options?

What are some of my options for my 71' 302 rebuild ? I'm open to any thoughts, right now it is stripped and being cleaned. Speed and something that looks sharp.

A nice set of aftermarket cylinder heads, along with a cam and intake manifold will make the 302 come alive. While you have the chance raise the compression with a good set of pistons.
If going with the head/intake/cam idea try to stick with a matched set from one manufacturer for the best results.

Thanks Jarret, that is pretty much what I had in mind. Now I'm pricing it out. I was also thinking about some sort of supercharger or blower, if possible.

That's always an option, however plan it into your rebuild so there are no problems in the future.

Since you will most likely go .030 over on your rebuild, why not consider a stroker kit? Maybe 331 or 347 CI. Prices may range from $900.00 to $2000.00. Then ad the aftermarket heads, cam and nice upper and lower intake. some headers, good ignition, underdrive pullies and a good (maybe "X" pipe) exhaust. By the time you are done, you will most likely gain more power from this combination then just sticking a S/C on top. You won't have to worry about octane ratings for the fuels you buy, and always being concerned about how much boost is too much boost.

It's a lot over my head Ron, but I was reading up on the stroker kits...sounds like a good idea.

I think what we are saying is that if you decide to go with a blower, the engine should be built a certain way. Low compression... so you can turn up the boost. If you go with Nitrous as a power adder, then you have to select a specific cam that will not make the car run at its best when the nitrous is not on. So once you make a decision you then have to build the motor for that application.

With a stroker motor you can build very good power and not have to worry about how you plan to use it.
