Default TURBOCHARGER/SUPERCHARGER questions

hey, i have an 02 v6 mustang. ive been wanting to add power, and i find the best way is by going all out and getting either a turbocharger or a supercharger.
What i want out of the car is basically good "off the line" acceleration, and if im cruisin on the highway and gun it, it goes like hell.
can anyone help me out in deciding on which setup to get ?

i will try to help ya with your decision, and this is just my .02 and nothing else.

I love turbo's and would try to get my own mother to drive a turbocharged car. But sometimes we have to look at application's and see what the cost's would be. I would think, that a basic turbo kit is gonna run about 5k, roughly (that's for a v8). Then you are going to have hour's and hours of fab work to make a turbokit fit on a v6.
Looking at what you have (engine wise), i would highly highly suggest that you look at doing a supercharger on your car. I think it will be everything you want, power wise and then some. The motor should be able to handle up to 6psi of boost with out alot of effort.....cost wise, i think you can find kit's for around 1900 bucks, which saves you about 3k dollar's that you can add to your car, such as suspension, fuel, whatever.....

that sounds pretty good. i dont really know that much bout superchargers as i do about turbos, so i was wondering which would be a good supercharger, ive heard things about roots type being better than centrifugal, which would you recommend, and why>?

and at 6psi, how much quicker would my car be? can it compete with the gt or anything?
otherwise, how much boost would i need to be puttin out to keep up with like a gt, or even come close to the cobra or whatever??

if you have a supercharged v6, you will eat the gt for breakfast. that is if it is stock.

i would look at ease of installation myself........a roots fit's on top of the engine, and will take some engine knowledge to install....

the centrifugal, bolts on the front of the engine and is still labor intensive, but just about anyone with mechanical ability should be able to install this.

That is what i would really think about myself......

ok, but other than the ease of installation, which would be the better supercharger, cause the installation isnt a huge deal, cause i know some ppl that can help me out. im just concerned about which is the better type of supercharger. and what they both are good/bad at.

http://superchargersonline.com/ bottom right hand corner, read "Superchargers A-Z"

All the info you seek in these articles. (regarding types and vs turbo chargers.)
