Default twin turbo V6

So another question, What is the advantage of a twin turbo set up vs a turbo set up besides more forced induction. Is there an advantage to one set up over the other in a V6? I was told the a single turbo will give you all the boost my stock block can take. Also I am new to turbos and was wondering which pipe the turbo connects to and all that jazz.

Thanks much

dual turbos eliminate turbo lag.. one turbo is smaller and picks the bottom end torque and the big one takes over when the little one stops producing power and gets the top end going

What you quote is true in a sequential system (like Supra and RX7).
But in a TWIN the turbos are not in series but paralell. In a V type of motor, one placed on either side of the motor and fed by the bank of cylinders on that side.
the sequential set up is great in theory, but sux for making any type of real power. by having the exhaust flowing through the smaller turbo all the time, you have a real restriction. Most people go to a large single conversion when they want to make some real power.

A twin verse a single turbo will not give any more boost. You can get the same boost levels with either one.

I agree with Alex in the twin or sequential systems. On a “V” engine you want the same size turbos. And with sequential system converting to single to get real power.

The main advantage of a twin system would be, spool time is quicker. A single would give you all the boost you would need yes, but a twin system will get you there quicker. Just make sure, whatever route you take, the turbos are matched to the size and rpm range of the engine. This is VERY IMPORTANT!

As far as which pipe. The turbine side (cast iron side, exhaust side) connects to the exhaust. The compressor (aluminum side, intake side) connects to the intake. The center of the compressor is the inlet (air filter side)

So which setup in your opinion would be the best to go with for a car that I intend to drive on the street on a regualr day basis?

I use to drive my twins every day. 90 miles round trip to work. Had no problems. So my vote are the twins

I agree, The twins will spool up faster and give you more power in the lower RPM range, more usable for the street. Also in some ways it is less complicated to set-up because you can run one turbo on each side. To run a single correctly you would have to merge all six header pipes to the turbocharger or run balance pipes.
