Default Help Me Vortech Owners

My 93 GT keeps cutting out at 4500rpm as if there is a rev limiter somewhere when in fact there is none.

Replaced spark plugs, wires, distributor, ignition, corrected plumbing, replaced FMU. However, when the supercharger belt is removed all seems to be ok. The only thing i haven't replaced is the MAS (Pro-M 75mm bullet). All other settings are correct.

I've spent major $$$ looking for this problem and nothing seems to have worked.

Any Vortech owner seen this problem?

It almost sounds as if your getting spark blowout. Unless you have a good upgraded ignition system you should set you spark plug gap at around .035 to keep the increased cylinder pressure from extinguishing the spark kernel under boost.

what NoSlow5oh said sounds right to me, try regapping them. If that doesn't work take it to a shop that has a dyno to fix it for you. No sense in dumping money in parts that possibly don't need to be replaced "Replaced spark plugs, wires, distributor, ignition, corrected plumbing, replaced FMU".

You would not believe how much cash i've spent trying to resolve this problem; 2 hot rod mechanics & the amount of labor ($$$) that was put into this...

The car runs absolutely great as it should after forking out an arm and a leg on parts that apparently didn't need to be replaced.

Here's a more info on the symptoms:

At WOT, power builds up nice and strong but when it gets to around 4500rpm, the engine buckles a bit. I've been advised on many theories NONE of which tested correct. The EEC-IV tested OK. My gut feeling saids that the problem is fuel related (fuel pump) but one mechanic said that i was pushing too much fuel (190lph pump, 30lb injectors). However, when the engine is eased into 4500rpm, no problem at all.

I gapped the spark plugs to .035 as suggested but symptoms still exists. One mechanic said to gap the plugs at .022 or thereabouts. Any comments on this?

I'm taking my Mustang back to the dyno this morning. Hopefully, we can nail this down.
