Default ZEX vs NOS

Now I've thoroughly read the install instructions for both dry systems these companies have to offer. I like the installer friendlyness of the ZEX but the NOS system seems to be a little more trustworthy and the safety features are a little more, shall we say, conscience friendly. I think I would feel more safe with the NOS system on my pretty much stock 02 GT. Am I reading too much into this or is the ZEX just as good. I like the price on the ZEX also but if the NOS is actually better in safety, reliability, and overall performance, I don't mind spending the extra dough. Thoughts? Opinions??

The zex is easier to install and you can still get the safety features that N0S offers. LIke the rpm limiter, purge valve yada yada. It comes down to what your looking for and your budget. You can put a 75 dry shot to your car and net about 60-70HP

The Zex Computer controlled set-up is great. Keeps you from blowing up you motor. It automatically adjusts if you run too lean or running fat. all hooked up to your throttle.

Hello,

I have had both systems on my car. Actually I LOVE my NOS setup over the zex. Heres why.

The ZEX runs off of your throttle position sensor. If your TPS has a bit of a stumble like many of the stang ones do after a bit of time it will sometimes shoot randomly or not at all. Secondly, the zex kit is a self contained unit that houses the solenoids. So if one goes bad, then you have to get a whole new unit instead of replacing one solenoid like you can on a NOS setup. Also, as with a NOS setup the zex kit WILL NOT adjust for rich or lean. The best way to get it perfect is to call the NOS tech line and tell them what shot you desire, EG.. 75 or 100. They will tell you the jet size for the fuel, and the Nitrous. If you put the jets that they suggest, and you have your car properly running you will notice a hell of a difference when you push your foot to the floor.

Also, you can make your NOS setup activate when you floor it just like on a ZEX kit. All you have to do is get a little full throttle switch. You can get a NOS brand one or go to radio shack and get one, and then you make a bracket and affix it to the throttle body.

So to sum it up. If you want to just plug and play your nitrous. Get a ZEX kit, but if you want a more customizable and professional kit get a NOS brand or competitor kit.

Hope this helps....

i have both as well, but for me the nitrous express kit worked better then both from a power stand point. I made 22 more horse power over the zex kit, and 11 over the nos..Most companies rate thier kits at the crank..nitrous express measure thiers at the wheels. Don't get me worng i have had good luck with both the kits mentioned i just favor the nx kit now over the rest because dyno numbers don't lie..Also each kit used was on a 100 shot

I am a fan of Harris Speed Works, they are cheap and work great, I dropped .75 sec and picked up over 10 mph in the 1/4 on a 100 shot. I plan on upgrading solinoids soon to some NX lightings and hit it with a 150-175 shot
