I ran a 67 mustang for 13 years at the track, and had both a single four, dual quad and a tri power on a 428.
The single four made the most power, but I found the tri-power the most street friendly. Take a close look at the linkage. I set mine so around town with light acceleration, I was just running on the two barrel. The linkage was adjustabe so you could change how soon the outside carbs came in. With the aluminum air cleaner (long oval) it looked tough to.
But, like I said, the single four actually made more power....probably because the intake manifold was a modern design.
