Question What use is a blowoff valve when you dont have a turbo?

Hello all, My friend has a 87 5.0 and for some reason he told me that he wants the sound of a turboed motor without having one. He said that he was gonna install a blow-off valve trough a vaccum line. In my opinion this is stupid, I told him you cant do it he insist that he can. Could someone please tell me if this is even plausable

thanx, cheez

And exactly what vaccum line does he think he's going to connect it to that its going to build enough pressure to actuate a BOV????

well if you get a tuneable BOV from greddy, you can run it softer then all hell and you may get a squeek, Im unsure what the vacuum sysem psi is, but it isnt that great. Most BOV's have to be pushing quite a bit of psi to activate and release the fun in the engine.

You need to be force fed for a blow off valve to function. It blows off pressure... It doesn't suck vacuum

All together I have spent just under 500 bucks on my turbo kit to make 430whp, carb'd.
Teach yourself to weld a little and do the same -- rather -- tell your buddy to do so. Stock bottom end 86 5.0.. 68k original miles -- now have just under 130k and just slight blow by.

So yeah -- instead of posing, tell him to strap on a sack and make his own. Or hell for the right price I'll make one for him.
