about 4 months ago i bought a 88 5.0 convertable 5 speed, it is stock other than k&n filter and flowmaster cat back, after new top and 17 " cobra replica wheels i am happy with the outside now MORE POWER. i am looking into a powerdyne supercharger 9 psi. powerdyne says i MUST install a mass air unit,
Is this true ?. i know i have to change injectors and pump but is the stock intake ok for this. a freind of mine has a typhoon intake, injectors , pump, mas air kit for my car , 303 cam, and i belive a 75 mm throttle body and bolt down roller rockers. all this was put an a car and ran for about 3 days before he recked it, couldnt handle it .if i get all these parts and install on my car would i notice much of a hp. gain.or should i just get the mas air unit , injectors, and pump, from him and then a supercharger thanks for any help you can give
thanks for input yes it is HO motor with about 130,000 miles on it, this leads me to my next ? it runs great just a few oil leaks can the motor take extra hp.
with that many miles.
rebuild the motor while you have it tore down. or just run it to death till it blows up. its your choice. But i would recommend a rebuild since your gonna be going thru all the work putting a cam and all that on it etc.
yes, you definately need to upgrade to mass air. you will also need to upgrade the fuel system. 255lph pump, bigger injectors unless you use an fmu, intake, bigger throttle body...
thanks for all the input, yes i have decided to rebuild my freind called with complete list here goes, mas air kit with all wires&computer,e 303 cam, bolt down roller rockers, typhoon intake(top & bottom),255 fuel pump,30 something injectors hes not sure, adj.fuel pump reg.,70 mm throttle body & bbk cold air kit.and any thing else for a gt he can find, all for 600.00 getting it this weekend. then i am looking into gt 40 heads. think supercharger is on hold for now, all this should give me good hp increase for now.
