Default Qs regarding Compression and Boost

Hello, hello.

I think it would be a dream for all persons to one day SuperCharge their 'Stang. It's certainly one of mine, so I've come to the experts with a question or two!

I'm not going to bore you to death with "Which S/C is the best?" or the like, so here we go!

On a 90 GT with about 76,000 miles on it, what's the compression ratio I'm running?

On this same 90 GT with about 76,000 miles on it, what's the safest amount of boost I can throw into it without blowing something?

Do compression and boost relate to each other, in any way? If so, how?

If I decrease compression, can I increase boost and vice versa?

Thanks for the information, guys. It's something I'm seriously interested in. Just have to get the money and prepare the car for her boost!

Would like any input you guys have on this.

Forgot to mention that it's still, for the most part, the stock internals.

Default Compression Vs. Boost

from the Kenne Bell website:
COMPRESSION RATIO - Lowering the compression ratio allows the engine to run more boost with the same octane. For example, 8.0:1 vs 9.5:1 can tolerate another 3 psi. 3 psi gives 38HP. The 1.5 lower CR loses 3% (2% per point) or around 9HP in a 300HP engine. That nets 29HP (38-9=29).

PS living the dream, 9 PSI intercooled Kenne Bell Blower!

I have a stock lower end with 125,000 miles and I'm running 12 lbs of boost into it. you can safely run 10psi with no worries. mine hits 12psi on the high rpms but it hits a safe 10psi at 5700rpm which is where I shift.
you should be just fine throwing a blower on there.

Here's the best way I can think of to answer your questions. http://www.kennebell.net/faq/faq-answers1.htm

I'd be willing to bet all the answers you seek are there.
