Question Nitrous Oxide!?!?!

i have a 1997 cobra with 56,000 miles. the car is all stock with the exception of a removed silencer and a k&n (i dont consider those mods, just standard practice on any mustang.) i am thinking on going with the 410 gears, an h-pipe or x-pipe, and a nitrous kit. i really dont want to have to rebuild the engine later and was wondering if the nitrous is really safe. 100 hp shot is as high as i want to go. anyone with experience with nitrous and a 4 cammer? if so what kind of times?

a v8 takes a 75-100 shot usually stock... best if you keep it down to 75.
so i would think a v6 would want a 50-75 being closer to the 50.

Are you planning on doing any other mods to your car? If you are I would wait with the Nitrous until you have that done so you can either use a bigger shot plus have that extra from your upgrades. I would call up the provider of the kit you are going to buy anyway and see what they say too. I know most people will be honest and won't tell you a stock V6 will take a 250 shot.

Which kit are you looking at?

Also you don't need a X-pipe on a V6 because of the firing sequence. A H pipe won't do anything either except give you a better sound, (Or so people have stated).

Keep us up dated! I know I am going with a NOS sportsman fogger system after I get a few other, ok a lot, of things done. Hope this helps you some....

I'm a little confused the post is for a V6 but it's a Cobra? If you have a 97 Cobra it can handle the Nitrous. I run it un my 95 and it came with crappy hypereutectic pistons. The most I have used is a 150 shot when I really want to have some fun but most of the time it's jetted for a 100 shot. I have had no problems and my car has 68,000+ plus miles on it now. I have the Nos kit, I think Holly owns them now I bought my kit 4 years ago when it was Nos. The kit I bought had all the stuff needed to use the 150 shot and still be safe with the stock motor. My friend has a 97 and is running the same kit on his car and has had no problems as well. His car was running high 12's low 13's( I don't remember his mph) on street tires having serious traction problems. I only got one run in at the track with my car on the juice and it was a mid 13 at 109 on shitty street tires and missing 3rd. My 60ft time was horrible I know with some traction I could have been in the 12's. I'm looking foward to going back with all the mods I have added. I know that there are a lot a good nitrous kits out there now, I've heard some good thigs about the ZEX kits as well but they were on some friends imports and they haven't had any broblem yet.
