for what you spend on a supercharger,,, IMO you would be better off with just getting new heads Intake CAI and cam, you net about the same horse... if not more... cheapest SC i could find was $3,000 and that would give a stock 5.0 330 hp... summit racing has a holley kit for $2,100 of heads upper and lower intake cam and timeing chain that will give you 350 hp...
I did the heads, intake, cam thing first and if I had the chance to do it all over again, I would do supercharger first. I say this since I built my car up slowly so the power progressed slowly. At least with the supercharger, I could start off where a good heads, exhaust, intake, and cam package would put me. Granted, it would take a good unit like the S-trim to make it worth while but even the hit of an A-trim on a stock car would be nice.
I remember my first dyno-tune about two years ago and the guy before me had a stock 90 LX with nothing but an off-road h-pipe and S-trim for performance mods. I remember seeing his dyno graph and he walked away with 320rwhp/330+rwtq. That's with two mods!!! Imagine now he starts to add bit by bit the heads, the intake, complete exhuast, etc. The power just goes up from there.
Back to the original question, I think the entry level Vortech A/SC-trim or the Novi 1000 are probably the least expensive.

I'm not really that impressed... that’s $4,199.40 for the S trim and then what $200 for the off road pipe... so almost $4,500 sounds real smart to me.. Spend twice the money to get the same horse......plus the 10 - 16 hour install... that’s ridiculous... I can put new heads, cam, intake, on in way less time than that....

Since when is an S-trim $4,199 for a FOX mustang???? Try something more realistic like $2989.00 (Summitt) for an S-trim, that's more the norm. Or even $1,879 for an A/SC-trim. Having some knowledge or being realistic about the arguement is half the battle.
Anyway, to get those horsepower/torque numbers naturally aspirated, the car will need maf, tb, intake, heads (quality intake/heads pacakage), cam, complete exhaust, and probably tune. All he had was an S-trim, off road h-pipe, and tune. Like I said, I did the naturally aspirated route first and if I had to do it over, I would definitely go supercharger first. That's just my opinion though. Try the SC-trim, off-road, larger crank pulley for a little more boost, a good tune, and see where you end up at. Again, good luck.

i got the price off of vortechs web site... i'm not trying to argue here.. just saying that your going to spend more money for the same horse... you dont need all that stuff to get that power... holleys kit has 350 hp on a stock motor.. and that kit is 2,200 in summit... cam heads intame timming chain..

My arguement is not that you can't make that power n/a. However, it's going to take all of the bolt-ons to get there and the heads/intake/cam package has to work well together. A Cobra intake, GT-40 heads, and alpha bet cam probably won't get you there. Just depends on the combo. Still, just a good supercharger can get you there (300+rwhp), for about the same price.
That Holley combo can make great power but remember, you still need exhaust and the other little things to hit that 300rwhp mark. A guy in my old car club had just that kit on his 94 Mustang GT. He had that plus exhaust, tb, maf, and dyno tune. End result 314rwhp/310rwtq with as I recall, a very flat torque curve. Believe me, I think that's awesome and I'm sure there's more in it with some porting/polishing, long-tubes, etc. But, I still believe it's a lot less work to bolt on a supercharger than to add heads/intake/cam/exhaust.
i agree with twister. befor doing this the engine should be refreshed. i see the point made but i think that money should be put into the engine to refresh it (pistons, rings, seals, some machineing, maybe reinforced mains, main girdle, ect) then do the sc. or even you know summit has a 347 stroker kit for the same price id prob go that way. considering youd refresh the engin plus up the displacement. thats the way id go most likely.

The Novi 1000 does run right around $1600. The base model P1SC is only a few hundred more, but leaves you with a lot more room to grow. As Ron said, call JD's Performance and ask for Dave. Tell him Nic from the Tri Cities Mustang Club (he'll know who you're talking about) sent you and you'll be very well taken care of Dave is a super, stand-up guy. I can't stress enough how great he is to deal with.
