The biggest thing for boost is getting forged pistons and connecting rods and real good bearings for the bottom end.

alright so that is taken into consideration would anyone suggest a good rebuild kit that is ideal for around 10-20 #s of boost for my engine or should i do this work myself, also im considering if it is "wise" to rebuild my engine as a 347 Stroker or rebuilt it still as a simple 302 like the block is stock but that shouldnt be to much of a problem because i want to push some serious horse here so yah know just thinking what is best

I've heard of issues with the 347's and longevity. I'm not precisely sure what the cause is though. I plan on doing a 306 or 331 with my 83 this winter and boosting it sometime in the spring.

If your looking at really serious HP you probably should start with a Dart Block And forged internals Stock blocks especially the 5.0's can flex a bit when you start trying to pull 450 -500 hp out of them

It doesn't HAVE to be a Dart block, but they are very impressive pieces.
