Turbocharger or Supercharger Advise Needed. Help Me Choose
It's a good time to be an owner of an 05 - 07 GT. There are a plethera of forced induction systems out there. Especially new turbo kits. With all the options that are out there which would you pick. This is my goal:
1) Daily Driver needs to be very streetable
2) Produce 450-475 Safe RWHP on completly stock motor
3) Mostly street and the occasionaly drag strip
Let me know what you think the best bang for buck is.
At this point I'm leaning twoards an ATI Procharge or Hellion turbo
Ok its funny cause I had the same question I was just going to post so let me add to what you already have going on . Now I want to also know what is the average price of a turbo kit vs. a supercharger kit and what everyone recommends. Now the second part to the question is Im looking to install this kit myself my dads a mechanic and well it will be something that i want to take on. Now once I install the Supercharger or Turbo system I need to get it Dyno tuned for the correct A/F and all that stuff. Now once i put the kit on Oviously I cant drive it like that to the shop can I? and if not how has everyone else done it . Do you guys have the car towed to the dyno shop to get it done before you turned the car on? Please help . Thanks to all in advance

AND THE LIST GOES ON!!
If you are interested in a turbo, give the PowerHouse system a look before you decide. I dumped my ATI and went with their turbo and have been very pleased with the performance and setup.

Beyond a doubt and best for many reasons in my book: Turbo
many benefits....
a recently learned benefit, that is not often thought of too...is NO BELT SLIP!!! , no belt shredding, and none to fly off when the tensioner breaks!
Beyond a doubt-no
Complexity of install
Generated Heat very close to many of the plastic parts (at least the TC's I've seen)
Turbo lag in comparison to instant torque from a TS Charger
And the whine is so music to the ears
TC'ers without question can make more power at the get go. But, IMHO you will be looking at higher maintenance costs. For street driving and track time the Twin Screws are an excellent choice. For mostly strip time I'd go Vortech or Procharger.
I've looked at the manual for the PowerHouse and HP Performance tubros. I wasn't to thrilled about the way they did certain things. I'm waiting to see the manual for the Hellion kit. Most of the turbo kits go for about 5k But you have to pay typically $200 for shipping and you will have to but a SCT or Diablo Tuner which will run another 500-700 on a dyno. I'm leaning more tworads the Turbo as well and I like the Hellion kit as my first choice but I wont pull the trigger until I review the manual.
Otherwise for all out competition I would probably say twin turbo. Kenne Bell offers a bypass where you can completely lock out boost with a simple turn of a screw.

Twin screws I wouldn't think are great for daily driver. You'll be in boost range most of the time, whereas CF superchargers only spool up past 2.5-3k RPMs.
Plus twin screw has more wear on engine internals than CF. If you're bumming around town, go with a TS. I have never driven either, this is just all i hear on the forums. TS will give you the most performance, but CF is usually better for daily drivers.
Turbo's run hotter and are more expensive, but if you want the best performance, turbo's might be the best in my option. But since you are looking for more daily driver-ability, my .02 goes to a CF like Procharger, or Vortech.

twoscoops - the advantage of the ts is that you don't have to spool the high rpm's to get the boost. If the engine is gonna go, most likely it will pop at high rpm.
5-8psi on a properly tuned engine will not hurt it in the least, IMO.
Yes, I agree being that the engine is under boost all the time; BUT I also read that the boost was passive UNLESS accelerating.
On the street the ts will make it harder to hook up from a stop too.

What do you mean by passive? Does Saleen put a forged rotating assembly in it's Supercharged editions of the S197?
I meant that it only boosts under acceleration. I don't know how they really make that work though.
And I believe only the top saleen has forged internals. Not the "base" supercharged model. Check out www.saleen.com for the answer on that one.

One major advantage that T/C have over any S/C out there is there is no parisitic drag. If your concerned about longevity of the bottom ened you will have less ware and tear with a T/C. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
