Default Powerhouse Turbo Kit. Opinions Needed.

Hey after looking at the Hellion Kit, I think I may be jumping ship and looking at the PH Turbo Kit. I was looking for your oppionions.
The PH kit seems to be more complete of the two. The one big drawback that I can see with the Hellion kit is that the pipes seem to hang real low lower than the front facia. If you look at the pics from thier website you will see what I'm talking about. The Blue Sonic on the lift.

So any other turbo kits I should be considering? STS Kit is to expensive. HP Kit I've heard a couple of installers say it's the MAC of turbo kits out there. No offense to MAC parts users but iv'e ownended them and I can say from experience they SUX! GMS Kit I havent heard to much about. I've talked to Mike at PH and he sounds extremely knoweledgable and freindly. Anyone use his kit?

How was your experience and what kind of numbers did you put up with his kit?

I really like the price and looks of the Snow Performance system! It NEEDS a cooler though.... which can be found on Ebay.... needs some know how but most Speed Shops with turbo experience should be able to figure it out...

I wish my car was not a commuter so I could get a turbo.... saw a single turbo S95 pull +1,000 the other day. Single turbo! Quite the build though.... but cool! You should have seen that thing go on the dyno! WOW!

Fin1 has it installed on his ride with impressive results. He had Mike Bowen at Powerhouse do all the work.

I think Ken at MD tuned it, but impressive result is an understatement!! Think they're (were?) short of fuel to take all outa it...??

I thought he said Powerhouse tuned it, but I could be wrong. I'm driving up to PA next week to see him to get the aluminum driveshaft put in and have her dyno tuned.

I'm not sure, there may be two of them out there.... know Ken have been complaining about tuning over the net for a new application...

You'll like that driveshaft!!

PowerHouse did my turbo, engine R&R (Fox Lake rebuilt the sb & heads) and tune as well as all the work on the chassis, shift light, line locks, wideband A/F, axles, headers, gears, etc.

I can't say enough about Mike and Steve @ PH. I've been to FFW & NMRA with them and seen both their v6 and v8 run. I've seen the v8 run last September when it was being tested and was impressed then. I dropped my procharger for the PH kit and had countless discussion with Mike & Steve on what my goals where and how to get there (low-11 to high 10 sec ride).

The PH service is top-notch. The design is outstanding and the power (what counts) is amazing. I'm putting down 525ft/lb of rwtq on pump gas with about 13+ lbs of boost. However, the kit for the stock engine will do 11's, which I know of a customer doing just that.

That said, give them a call and talk to them... you won't be disappointed.

Nice Al!

Whats your RWHP? Do you have a cooler? Included or AM? Can you control your waste gate from the cabin, ie. lower the boost for say highway driving?

No but it's not hard to change the waste gate spring.

Cool, looks nice, had not looked at it before... Am guessing a 67 mm turbo? Which waste gate spring do you use? It can't be the 20 and you lose 6 into the heads? What headers? Thanks... as you can see I'm already considering my next build...

Yes it's a 67. I'm not totally sure on the sping size. I believe it's the large green or large blue spring (http://www.tialsport.com/documents/w3_tial_38_sp.pdf)
The headers are JBA shorties.

Good luck!
