Default NOS questions for newbie

I just purchased my first mustang, a 94 gt. The previuos owner had nitrous on the car, but took it off. I got all the parts(or at least prob most of what I need) in a box in the trunk. I have never dealt with Nitrous before, but I would like to put it back on the car. My questions are how do I test solenoids to make sure they are working? Does a purge valve use just a regular solenoid? or is that something different? Would you reccomend doing it as a wet or dry kit? I have what looks like 3 solenoids with it. also what do i need to do to get the timming to retard as I use it? I just want to do this right the first time so I don't blow it up! thankd for any help

Well, it's a 5.0L so you can do a dry shot, but a wet shot will give you more room for a larger shot providing the fuel system can keep up. I have never dealt with nitrous myself so testing solenoids and things like that are beyond me. Getting the timing set right shouldn't be too hard, just install the kit and leave the bottle closed until you can get it tuned before using it.
