Exclamation Nitrous on 1996 Cobra Mustang? Need Help!

Hey every one. I have a 1996 cobra with 80,000 miles on the stock internals. I have a bbk62mm tb, gms mass air, pulleys, full lenghth headers, imrc deleted, 255lph walbro fuel pump and exhaust. I want to throw some nitrous on the car but heres my dilema. I heard dont do the wet kit b/c backfire will blow the intake. I heard with a dry kit i will need injectors and its not the safest method. What some one recomended I do and hear comes my real question, is buy the nos direct port kit for the 2v since there is no 4v kit and they could modify some things and make it fit. A custome nirous kit basically. I will be using 2steps colder plugs, 100 octane fuel, and a MASTERFUL tune. Please give your opinions on the question about my direct port issue and if anything recomend me some kits no matter what.

looks like u already have the fuel pump for the nitrous next u need to get a fuel pressure regulator and turn it up to 45psi fuel run 2 stage colder plugs (ngk) bigger injectors 24lbs new mass air that is set for 24lbs injectors. always use a wet nitrous seystem because with the wet seystem the fuel and nitrous is mixed at the fogger before it enters the engine. with dry u must relie on the injectors to provide enogh fuel thats not a good idea cause it could run lean and that means BOOM!!. oh yea one more thing u will need to get your car tuned since u do not have a distributer cause u must retard your timming 1 degree for every 50hp shoot of nitrous. and gap the new plugs smaller at like .48 instead of the stock .54 good luck

and i would not run no more than 100hp-150hp on the stock motor. u might go with 100hp to be safe unless your motor is forged and built to handle. always run 93 octane atleast. or premium

Yeah my car already has 24lb injectors. So you dont think that nitrous backfire will be a problem with a wet kit. A wet kit will still be better than a dry shot with 36 or 42 lb injectors. I will get 2 steps colder plugs and thanks for the tip on the gapping. I will be running a 100 shot and 100 octane fuel with a GREAT tune. What brand kit should I buy? What kit do you run? Thanks for the info by the way.

no prob . the kit i run is a nitrous express kit fogger style. the nitrous express pepole are good at giving advice when call them for help. and with the nitrous express kit when u rate the horse power the jets are made diferent the the nos jets because nos jets are rated at the motor like a 100hp jet for nos will make less power to the ground than a 100hp jet from nitrous express becuase nitrous express is rated to the ground. so if u run 100hp shot of nx u will get an extra 100hp to the ground

wet shot is always the best to go with it makes more power and it is alot more safe.

how much does it cost you to get your bottle filled? how often do you spray and how long does a bottle last?? i hear that nitrous is good for engines with higher compression, is that true?? i haven't checked it, but the guy i bought my car from said it was 10.5:1 which is way too high for a s/c so I am thinking about nitrous. I was also wondering if I had the right cam set up for nitrous or does it not matter. It's a 292-292 512 max lift cam. Thanks

well it cost me here in indy $40 to fill the bottle. and it last me all weekend about 10-12 runs on the street. and on the track about 8. and for the compression 10.5:1 is kinda in the middle cause nitrous works the same way as forced induction it is like runing a supercharger when u are using it. it will raise your compression too. maybe to 11.5:1 when u are using it. and with the high compression u have to run 91 octane or better.

well with that cam spec it sounds like a f-cam that is to big it will cause piston to valve clerance problems because with the 5.0 cobra motors the stock rocker is a 1.7 roller. so if u go with a e-cam it will give the result u want because with the e-cam and the 1.7 rocker u will have 512 lift but the draw back is u wont have the duration

stock lift on a 5.0 cobra is somewhere around 470 because it has the same cam as the gt but with a bigger rocker ratio so thats gives it just a little more lift than a gt.

summit racing said to gap the plugs at .48 and nitrous express said to gap them at .35 but i tried them both the .35 gap cause a noticeable decrease in power and the .48 was just enough to work for nitrous and not cause any power decrease. the stock gap on a mustang is .54 and the reason for lowering the gap is so when u are using the nitrous it dose not cause spark blow out. becuase with the stock gap it could cuase spark blow out where the spark plug is not even trying to spark. and that will cause puddling on the valves and that is bad.

i have been looking and think i am going to go with a ZEX kit. does anybody know if their "shots" are rated flywheel or ground?

I was also wondering if it would be safe to run a 200 shot with my set up. you can look at my profile to view it.

and what are two stager colder plugs?
