Question Which Supercharger for 1994 V6 Mustang ?

hey everyone i have a 1994 3.8 V6 mustang and just got a brand new engine and its got a new clutch, short throw shifter, starter, and a water pump.

im planning on buying mods such as CAI and duals but over the summer i'll be working towards a supercharger.

i'm looking for more power gains at lower HP and i noticed the roots and twin screws S/C's fit that profile however the twin screws would be more of a constant flow and not nearly as heavy. however, the website i found this info from said that the twin screws S/C has a loud whining sound which would need to be "subdued with noise suppression techniques"

i have no idea what those techniques are or what i'd have to buy, or even if the sound is that bad. should i go with this S/C or a different one?

The twin screw blowers are only loud and noticable at heavy throttle and who cares if you can hear it then anyway. Any other time it just sounds like a power steering pump going bad. FRPP has a pretty good positive displacement blower setup for the V6 models and at a reasonable price too.

Either that, or go find a Thunderbird S/C (3.8) and throw it on.

you're going to need a LOT of engine work before you can run one of those.

your best bet would be to pick up a complete rebuilt T-Bird SC engine (they only cost $1800) a computer and drop it in.

But the inefficient heads on the car will only get you around 220 hp (which you can pick up with the more modern heads of the 01+ cars).

The main difference will be the 315ft/lbs of torque.

But you'll never be able to run with the centrigal SC engines with more modern heads.

You'll be able to have endless fun spinning the wheels at low RPM though.

For a 94?

I've searched for it & can't find it.

I know Shelby has one for the 4.0L . . .

Didn't those T-Bird SC engines run pretty low psi?
I thought it would be better if he just went to ATI or Vortech?

yeah, they have modified Eaton M90 SCs with more psi, but they're expensive, and can't run with the Centrifugals or Turbos.

the intake/heads don't flow enough.

But they're saying Ford Racing's coming up with a twin screw for 99+ heads . . .

Which is surprising, since FR hasn't done anything with the six since the T-bird.

No Kidding?! It always tics me off to find FR equipment with nothing for the v6; but a twin screw you say. Sounds like something fun to have with ported heads and intake.

I'm not really at liberty to say too much at this point , but I will say it is in the works and in a couple of months I should be able to give you all the info. Also I can say that there will be a Direct Fit Girdle for the 4.2 liter , or the 3.8 block upgraded to a 4.2 liter crank in the very near future this is really great news for people upgrading their rotating assembly and want that extra security for forced induction
applications .

Oh and BTW it won't be a twin screw but it will be a positive displacement blower . After the adaptor is made though who knows, maybe KB?

THat's cool. Why does Ford always start developing engines after they kill 'em?

But seriously, the 3.8/4.2L has all the advantages that made the 5.0L great

Cheap, lightweight, sturdy, and lots of potential.
