Try a ZEX nitrous system. Hear lots of great things about them. Not the most power, just the safest for the engine. Then go kick his tail

I don't do any racing, but from my perspective using nitrous is kinda like "cheating", isn't it? IOW, you're not beating him on the merits of your vehicle's real performance.

Shaky-So in that case your vehicle's true performance loses to the LS1, Cobra, and some imports. Don't bother modding your car then, because any mods you put on is not the " true performance".

1998GT- You thinking about the Pontiac Firehawk? That looks similar to the WS6 but is a limited production car. BTW all Z28's, SS's, Formulas, Trans Ams, WS6's and Firehawks all had the LS1 motor which is the same motor in the C5 Corvettes.

Hey Racing is all a game of "RUN WHAT YA BRUNG,SO YA BEST BRING ENOUGH" There are no Merits in Racing for the fact of All Motor or Power Adders. It's who gets there first!! So it's best not bring a Sword to a Gun fight....In the case o f that GT, You better bring a whole lotta nitrous or that WS6 is gonna hand you your AZZ!!!

The Corvettes are set up a little different than all other LS1's. They have a different intake and a couple other things to give them that extra power.

Personally, I don't consider nitrous a "mod". It's an artificial boost to your car's speed. It's not like your driving back and forth between work and home with nitrous always "on", you see.

I mean, if I went to the race track and had a rocket strapped to my car and was blowing away Vipers and Lingenfelter Corvettes, would I REALLY have such bragging rights? Of course not.

No, you would just spin there. So is a Maf, headers, pulleys, intake, heads a mod? They are Artificial boost. They enhance the engine and increase it's ability ot make more power, just like a blower, turbo, or nitrous. If you think that way, looks like you will only be beating stock imports.

The LS1 motor for the vette and F-bodies are almost identical. There is no difference in the intakes or anything of that sort. They do not make that much more hp. Granted the vacuum and other little things may vary, but nothing of that magnitude.
What some don't realize is the LS1 in the F-bods were underrated so GM can justify the price tag a little better for the vettes. Most 98-02 LS1's F-bods had anywhere from 340-360 hp, the same area as what the vettes were rated. Yes the vette handles, but just the name and handling alone won't justify the 45+k price tag.

Nitrous is just another power adder. It's not cheating, and it is a true modification. Because you modified something to install it and it changes the performance of your car at the push of a button. I would love to put a supercharger in my car, But I don't have the money right now. So I'm making due with nitrous.

personaly, you could not pay me to spray. Giggle gas has to be tuned for, and does better with lower compression. if it is not right, it leads to detination and spun bearings. I would rather pay the extra money to get a blower than suffer the humiliation of opening my mouth and running out of gas in the middle of a run. Plus, how much is Nitrous Oxide these days? $4 a pound if you are lucky. in the long run, a huffer will be cheaper

I work at a speed shop. So I got the hook up on parts and nitrous. It doesn't hit my pocket book as hard as it hits your average joe.

I guess I'm cheating too with a blower...

You're not "switching" your blower on and off, so it's not a cheat in my eyes.

Nitrous is a bottom line adder. It says nothing about the actual performance of your car.

F-bodies are rated at 320 and the Corvettes are much higher.
