A supercharger produces the well known "whistle" when you get on the throttle.

Some mods you may look into doing so you can get all of the performance out of the s/c is:

Upgrade to an increased size Mass Air Flow Sensor, Throttle Body, and Cat-Back Exhaust System.

This way the air flow can travel much quicker through the engine and out the exhaust.

Depending on the condition of the engine you may want to think about rebuilding the engine with durable race-proven parts.

If you know that the car's engines been beaten pretty badly rebuild it before you install the supercharger because the seals may blow. But if it's been treated well install the supercharger but make sure you keep the s/c boost down because on an old engine, the more boost it has the more risk you'll have of blowing your head gaskets.

Just make sure your s/c is properly tuned (Timing, Air/Fuel Ratio, and No Detonation)

If you do decide to rebuild your engine, I suggest visiting http://www.moranav6racing.com/, he makes engine stroker kits with all the necessary hardware to support a s/c. But mainly he's got a massive selection between 4.0-4.4L strokers to get some more horses out of your 3.8.

Let me know if you'd like to know anything else,

Before you go out and buy a supercharger, you may want to research different superchargers first...

here's a link to a good article :

Also, you might want to look into turbo chargers as well.

If you want to see how they work go to howstuffworks.com.

I have a D1 procharger on my 03 Mach1 [600 rwhp] . People smile when I start it up. Sounds like a bearing is about too come apart.

Vortech has excellent complete kits for the 3.8 (if that's what you need it for)

We run the V1 straight cut gear head on the fox show car,it's nice and loud especially at a set of lights ideling.

As far an needing to do anything to install your kit.It really depends on how well the engine has been maintained. We did our charger w/ 109,000 on the ticker, but the car had been in our hands since 98 so I know where it's been.

exhaust, a little bigger throttle body intake etc. will uncork more power, but if you don't have money for all that if the cars strong,I'd say bolt er on and go have some fun.
