Default 1994 cobra supercharged 408

I have some big plans for my 1994 cobra with the current 351 sitting in it.

I want to do a blown 408. Here are my mods: gt 40 heads were ported and polished and had all gaskets port matched then sent out to be flow tested, fitted with 1.6 and 2.02 valves which were treated to a 5 angle valve job and all new springs along with crain 1.6 roller rockers. There is a custom grind ultradyne cam in this car with 292-292 duration and 512 lift max rpm at 6200
the lower intake was sent out to be extrude honed and also gasket port matched. the upper is a comp cams poly intake, with a 1 inch spacer
75 mm throttle body as well as a 75 mm pro m mass air and conical k&n filter
There is a center force dual friction clutch as well as a ford motor sports flywheel which mounts to the trans.
A accel fireball ignition and coil as well as 8.8 wires

SO MY QUESTIONS: What will I need to upgrade out of the list above? I know I will need a different cam since that cam isn't a blower cam. But will the heads be big enough? Will I need a bigger throttle bottle and intake? I know the T5 tranny will not hold so what would be my best option. Does anybody know if a G-force T5 will hold up?

I am debating whether or not to do the work myself. Would it just be smarter to have a shop do it all? How much will they charge for the install of the stroker kit? Does anybody know of any GOOD shops around here I can talk to?

I am estimating this will cost around 10k to make happen. Am I pretty close on the estimate? I was originally just going to put a 150 shot of nitrous on the current set up and call it a day but I know it will not satisfy for long so this is what I decided to go with. It is going to be one sick street car.

Thanks for the advice.

Go to DSS. They're in the Chicago area and I can vouch for their work. For a 408, those GT40's will be a little small. I'd suggest heads with at least 195-205 cc like the Dart Pro 1's or AFR 205's. The 75mm TB will give a good snappy throttle response on the street and if it's blown, you might need to go up to an 80mm. The 75mm Bullet will support up to 550-600 hp so if you go over that, then upgrade. The intake should also be port matched to the heads to match. The Comp poly upper would work on a 408 as long as it has the right lower. What exactly is the lower? Stock? GT40? The GForce is a GREAT tranny and will hold up with no problem. I prefer them over Tremec because although the Tremec is another great tranny, there's no modifying the crossmember, a new shifter, bellhousing, yoke and the hassle of doing all this. A GForce will bolt right in, and is a lot lighter than the Tremec. You also have gear ratio and shifting options for the GForce too. I vote for the GForce.

I plan on making around 700HP, the G-force will hold up to that?? Does anybody know about how much lbs. I will need to run to make that goal? I really don't want to go over 15 and I want to be able to run 93 octane gas, which means I will most likely have to get some low compression pistons.

What will I need to do to the rear end in order for it to support my goal of 700HP? Should I wait till it breaks then build it up or build it up first? I will most likely wait till the T5 goes to install the G-force.

Also, how can I stiffen the chassis? I have side exhaust so that eliminates being able to run full length sub frame connectors, but what else will i be able to do?

The side exhaust will have to go, you definatly need full frame subframes as well a a 6 point (minimum) rollcage if you plan on racing it.

sorry havnt been on much. Honestly you could get away with not having the roll cage.

But if your the type of guy that wanting at least 750 hp, your gonna be the same type of guy to use it.

with a engine like that yes a cage will be a must at the track since youll deffinatly be running under 11.30's.

but i was more recommending it to help keep that chassis straight as well as being legal at the track.

do they have any cages that aren't too noticeable and can still fit people in the back seats? a link would be great.
