Default 2001 mustang v6 need help on what to do for more power

Hey everyone im new to this forum and i have a 2001 v6 mustang
i want quite a bit of power out of it..and i know i should have got a gt if i wanted more power. but i didnt have a choice
i can do whatever i please with the car besides sell it.
im wondering what i should do for more power i was thinking about doing a gt engine swap..
but at the same time im hearing alot about people upgrading v6's and making them pretty fast
if im going to upgrade the v6 i want to be faster than a gt if possible
and wonder what would be cheaper and better.
and if i were to do the gt engine swap around how much would i be looking at spending?
and about how much would i be looking at spending on making a v6 faster than a gt?
oh and my neighbor will do all the labor for free.
sorry for dumb questions but im new to this car tech
feedback would be greatley appreciated
thank you all.

Well.

I'll break it down for you.
If you stuck with the V6 than you will need allot of upgrades to keep up with those GT's. You have a variety of choices, for example:
A Turbo.
A turbo would work for you gaining up to 120+ HP. Now this is a very difficult process. And no you will not have Turbo lag if you set everything up correctly.
A super charger:
The Super Charger is a great way to go. You can install it very easily and it should put in a good 80-90+ HP. The Super Charger is about the price of the Turbo and you will not get as much power.

GT Engine Swap:
A GT engine swap should run around $6000. You will have to cut and weld on (or bolt) new engine mounts. You will need a different Transmission I believe for you new V8. The advantage of a engine swap would be that you can always upgrade it from the 300 HP you get from it already. The v8 will also increase the value of you car allot.

Here are prices:
Turbo $2900 HP Gain: 100-120
Super Charger: $2500 HP Gain 80-100
GT Engine swap: $6000

Check out this site:ProCharger Intercooled 600+ HP 2005 Mustangs
They say they can get you 400 HP from a v6.

You stock V6 runs 193HP and the 4.6L runs 300HP.
I would do a V8 swap, but I am also a fan of v8 and would never buy anything but it if I had a choice.

I have more information to give you if you think I'm on the right track here.

Hope this helps.

yeah i was leaning more towards the gt engine swap i just wanted a good estimate on a price
what exactly do i have to do for the swap what parts would need to be bought besides the whole engine set up of course
a new rear end? how much do those run?
i can get a gt engine+ tranny with all the wiring and stuff here for about 2400..
my neighbor will do all the labor for free..
and if i upgrade to a gt engine
what do i have to do to make it legally reffereed as a v8?
and is there any other engine swaps that can be done around this price range to gain more power?
thanks for the reply i appreciate it.
