Ahhh TURBOS
Yeah Frank is right. I have the Incon Twin Turbo setup on my 91 LX.
The kit is not a bolt on. You have to do some cutting and welding for clearance. Incon says you can install with engine still in the car. I pulled it. It wasn’t difficult just takes some time
It is a lot of fun! Boost is right there. No noticeable lag and it is at full boost @2500-2800 rpm
Do that with a Supercharger. Turbos take a little getting use to. The first month I had her running it was foggy and the street was wet. She broke traction, came up on boost, and spun me out. I learned how to use the throttle real quick after that day. And this one I really did not believe. Turbos will also help gas mileage. As long as you are just cruising. My LX has done the best of 27mpg @ 70mph, but the worst of 7mpg
There really is nothing like a turbo, well maybe N20. A kit is the only way to go. There are several kits out there, but Incon is the only one emissions legal in Calif. (that I know of) With a kit, they have worked out all the bugs for you. Yeah you will have some of your own, but for the most part kits work.
The reason to use twin turbos, that is two turbos, is turbo lag. Turbo lag is the time it takes to spin-up the turbos to full boost. Two smaller turbos take less time to spin-up than one large turbo.
Unless you know what you’re doing, I would not attempt to piece together a turbo set-up your self.
