Question T-4 Turbo ?

What type vehicle do I need to look for to find a Garret T-4 turbo to use on my 302? Approximatly how much boost will a T4 produce?

Thanks,

Are you looking for T-3s or T-4s? im not sure as to witch cars came from the factory with that size of a turbo other then a GN possibly. Are you doing a Junk Yard system ? what is your goals with your car and what do you have done to it ?

I don't know of any vehicle that came from the factory with a T-4. You could try and find a GM deisel truck. They used a Warner that I know of a few people using for a single application on a 302. Dodge Deisels use a decent sized Holset that you may be able to use also.
You could also just buy a new T-4 built to your specs for less than $500.

My current set-up is a 72' stock bore 302 with dish pistons and about 7.5 :1 compression.( I will be upgrading to a set of Hyperutectic or forged pistions) stock bottom end. A Ford Motorsport Cam 214/224 @.050 and .472/.496. Advertised at 3500- 5000 RPM. And a Jacobs Electronic ignition. A Eldelbrock dual plane intake with a Holley 750 vac. carb. A toploader 4 speed manual transmission. Rear end is a 31 spline nodular 9in. with 5.13 gears and a spool. 31x13.5 MT slicks.
Just from reading so far I know I need to change the intake, the carb, and upgrade the fuel system. How well will a Torker 289 intake work? I will be drag racing the car mostly and I am shooting for around 450 hp not sure if that can b accomplished with my current combo so I am learning all I can before I go shopping to the junk yards. I have not decided on a single T4 or twin T3's so I am open to opinions.

Yeah nad you might want to take that hell tall gear out also. The most you'll need with the turbo on that 302 is going to be 3.73 and that is more then likely going to be way too tall considering your tire size.
If you haven't finalized what size your plan, you may want to look into a pair of t-3/t-4 hybrids. They'll be penty for what you're doing now and they will have tons of room for growth.

Dont waste your time and money on Hyperutectic pistons. also i would look at bumbing your C/R to 8.5:1 or 9.0:1 depending on how much boost you want to run. you want the turbos and engine to work together making the most HP they can.

Cam i think you have a good game plan there, even if you wanted to you can stick with the stock cam amd still make just as good HP if not even more. so its really up to you, remember you dont need all that high dallor BS you would with S/C or Nitrous.

Like Alex said, you will need to look at a different gear setup then those 5.13s i would even look at 3.08s or 3.27s.

I think your intake/carb (make sure its a blow throgh carb) setup will be fine with what your are looking for. fuel system a must i would do a weldon pump, however they are or can be a bit pricey but this is something you DO NOT want to go cheap on! that pump will make or break your engines life on if it can or cant send the right fuel needed for your setup. Again i dont see 450 RWHP as being a problem for you to hit. if i was you do the Twin Turbo setup as it will be less work for 2 T3s to hit that number and go pasted it, rather then a T3 would. if you want to do a single turbo then my advice would be to do something like a single T-66 or a 60-1hifi turbo.

And lastly check out www.turbomustangs.com and www.Turbolocity.com we have a great bunch of guys working with people just starting out with GREAT tech info and just hangin out and shootin the chit.

I will be racing 1/8 mile primarily so do I need that high of a gear? I have a set of 3.70 and a set of 3.25 do not know what will work better.

Thanks for all the information guys!!
