Please Allow Me to Explain:
From the beginning we have always covered and included more than just Mustang only events in our events gallery. There are several reasons for this. Many events, while not strictly Mustang, are of interest to enthusiasts on our site. While we are all Mustangers, many of us are also auto enthusiasts that enjoy Ford and Ford related events which also include racing, american iron and classic's. We use the same philosiphy for our events gallery, as we do for our events calendar. Our calendar includes all events that maybe of interest to Mustangers. While our purpose is to ensure we cover and focus on Mustangs as our content clearly shows, it also includes other non-mustang events that maybe of interest to mustangers such as all Ford shows, racing, classic and auto performance shows. Here are just a few examples:
SEMA is not a mustang show but is of interest to many. Detroit and other Auto shows are not mustang only events but of interest to many. Ford racing and other racing events are not Mustang only but again of interest to many. Our focus is clearly on Mustangs, as our name definately implies but we also try to bring other content that we feel maybe of interest to mustangers.
For example the Targa Newfound Road Racing event you refer to, has some of the finest automobiles from all over the world, racing under some of the toughest conditions you can imagine on the street. We covered that event because there were a number of Mustangs competing from classics to late model. Sean Hyland's Mustang being one of those with Sean Hyland himself, behind the wheel. I covered the event for both AllFordMustangs and Mustang Enthusiast magazine. Mustang Enthusiast featured both articles on Targa Newfoundland and the Sean Hyland Musang in their May 2004 issue. Now that they have been in print watch for both articles coming to our site in the very near future. It was a thrill to see Mustangs kicking butt, especially considering their competition, which is another reason why we have other makes and models in our Targa Newfoundland events gallery. While its nice to know they kicked butt, its also nice to see what butts they kicked! While you may or may not be into racing, many of our viewers are and we felt they would enjoy the coverage and so does Mustang Enthusiast. Here are two articles we have already posted to our site, with the two others I mentioned coming soon:
Targa Newfoundland 2003 Enjoys Sizzling Start Arnold squeaks Targa Newfoundland rally win by 5 seconds
The Toyota Grand Prix and the Grand Am 400 are two other example of events we covered, that while not Mustang specific, are definately of interest to Mustangers because Mustangers not only participated, they kicked butt! At the Toyota Grand Prix, Boris Said, in his number 33 Ford Mustang wins the
Trans-Am! Quite an accomplishment! Did you know the Toyota Grand Prix itself is All Ford Powered. Pretty cool eh! At the Grand Am 400, Boris and company while not winning, clocked the fasted lap time and probably would have won his class except for running into a belt problem in the last part of the race. You have to check out the cometition to really appreciate just how big an accomplishment that was. Again more non-mustang photos but I hope you can now appreciate why.

If you have not already done so, take a few minutes and check out some of our other events coverage such as American Iron, World Ford Challenge, Fabulous Fords Forever:
AFM Events Coverage
And yes, I know many of these events have non-mustangs and even non-fords participating as well but hopefully in the context of the event and our coverage, you can now appreciate why.
From our perspective, this is the type of coverage we want to include on AFM! We want to help spread the word and keep our membership informed as to some of the great accomplishments fellow Mustangers are making. Do we cover it all. Of course not, but we cover what we can and hopefully help raise awareness within our mustang community about some of these great events. That does not mean we cover Mustang only events any less because we don't. It means we try to cover more for the benefit of our membership and site viewers. Believe me, if I thought the interest was not there, we would not be putting in the extra effort to providing this kind of coverage but our site numbers support it. We know from the number of viewers, that these articles get plenty of play and our membership do take the time to read and hopefully enjoy!
Our events gallery has long been one of the most active and complete sections on AFM. What I mean by complete is that we cover as many, if not more, Mustang events in our events gallery, as any other Mustang website out there. We have Mustang events from all over the USA, Canada, Mexico, Australia and even Europe featured in our events gallery that stretches back to 2000. Its not just the number of Mustang events we cover that makes a difference, its also the sheer number of photos we post per event. The point I am trying to make here is that there are no shortage of Mustang photos in our events gallery. In fact Mustangs, comprise the lions share by far!
With all of this said, let me conclude by explaining that several weeks ago, we did experience a site crash which resulted in much of our Events Gallery being wiped out. While we are in the process of restoring all of the events and photos back on our site, it will take us some time due to the shear volume of photos to be restored. This could explain why the Targa Newfoundland photos are now appearing more frequently than before since there are much less photos currently in our events gallery than before the crash. As we restore more and more of our missing event photos, these photos will appear far less from within then random thumbnail pictures. Of course this will take us some time so please be patient.
For those that do frequent our Events Gallery, we appreciate your continued patience and support while we continue to restore all of the events and photos that are now missing. For those that do not frequent or are occasionally inconvenienced by the non-mustang thumbnails from our events gallery, we hope you can now at least better appreciate and understand why we do post non-mustang photos from time to time. If our membership would like us to stop covering these types of events, I would be only to happy to spend my time doing other things.
Regards
Scott Halliday

Good grief, guess my 1992 Lmited Edition Mustang Convertible may also be considered an import because she hails from Canada as well
