March 16, 2005 - Chose my little pony at the dealership... She was paid-for before I drove her off the lot.

It helped that I had a very nice, very-low-mileage '99 Toyota Solara as a trade-in.

I'm just a (really good) corporate PR person with no college education. But after my divorce in 2000, I immediately took out a mortgage to buy a condo (rather than wasting any money on apartment rent). Fast forward to 2004 and the housing boom... I got engaged and sold the condo for almost twice what I paid for it! Woo hoo! Next stop, a certified check for the balance owed on my Pony after accounting for the trade-in bucks.

Not too shabby for someone who'd previously been living pretty much paycheck-to-paycheck with the exception of a modest 401K for old age.

That's some good investing... Like you, I bought a house in 1999 for $175k. Sold it last year for $450k. Problem is I took the bulk of the profits and sunk it into an even bigger house on 5 acres + $20k to renovate the kitchen. So I guess I shouldn't complain about having a car payment

*LOL* Nope... No complaining allowed from you!

I put $20k into my husband's home for some remodeling, too... It WAS a quintessential, bare-bones bachelor-type home. Our friends were shocked when they saw the huge difference after I took over! Heh heh heh heh... I well-earned my right to be put on the title-deed on our first anniversary ("Paper" dontcha know...)

I had a home I was renting out and got tired of the hastle so I sold it, bought the Mustang and took the remaining and invested it. In 3 years I'll retire for the 2nd time and probably buy another Mustang..
