Hey guys, I am going to be getting some cobra R rims for my 02 V6, 17 inch with 10.5 in back and 8 in front. I want to put nitto 555's on and I was thinking about putting the drag radials in back and the normal ZR's in front. What do you all think about this set up?
BTW the car will be a daily driver with occational trips to the strip and track, maybe once a month or so.

Ponyboy that set up sound's great if you have the extra dough.
I would choose 17x8's in front and 17x10's in back with Michilen
pilot sport trend's for great traction and handling.Nitto's look
good but,you will have traction issue's with them because they
like don't stick to the ground like Michilen's do!Falken is a
great performance tire too I would definitly consider them plus
they are make in America. With Nitto's performance wise you
will be slipping and slidding down the road. With Michilen's or
Falken's you will grip alot better!
With the Michilen would you suggest the pilot sport or the pilot sport A/S. I also checked out Falken but it doesn't seem like they make anything for a 10.5. I haven't found a 10 inch rim yet but I'll look around. Thanks!

I was talking to someone and they said that a 10.5 in back will slow my brake time, kill performance, and decrease my acceleration. Also said that 10.5 in back should only be used to drag race and only if you have the power to chirp them in 1st 2nd and 3rd. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

I say Nitto 555's look awesome but,as far as getting superior they
don't grip like Michilen,or Falken but on the other hand the low profile
look is attracting to look at period. Pilot A/S are great tire's too.
I saw the 10.5's on a car today and it just looks like off roading equipt so I was thinking about going one step down to 9's. still trying to decide on a good tire......

If you are going to drive your car daily, stay away from the 555R's. They have horrible traction in the rain. For the money, the Nittos NT555 Extremes are soooo much better than the Michelins and Falkens. I have had many different brands on my daily dirver and found that the Nittos are lasting longer, have better traction, and were much more affordable than anything out there. My best friend runs Kumhos on his 87 convert and likes them as much as I like the Nittos. Kumhos also cost less than Nittos. It all depends on your preference of tread patterns, temperature rating, treadwear and cost.
Make sure you keep track of your tire pressure as often as you can. This will help you get better mileage and tire longevity!
