Default Trying to decide on springs

Okay, I know this has been covered before I'm sure, but I tried to search and could find what I was looking for.
I'm going to redo my suspension with new bushings/shocks/struts/springs.
I am looking at the FRPP "B" springs cause they are progressive rate and 99.8% of my driving right now is on the street. Some of you have said they are to soft even for the street. According to FRPP they are stiffer than the stock 400lbs springs in front. I know the "C" springs are even stiffer at 650lbs, are they really stiff on the street?
What would you guys say?
I'm going to start doing a little autoX or road racing at my local track.

Also I was wondering about KYB struts. I know alot of people like Bilstien or Tokico or Koni, but 200.00+ each is alot to swallow when one is on a budget. Are KYB's even any better than stock replacements? ie: Monroe,Gabriel....
Thanks

Get the C springs. You will like them a lot better than B springs. I don't like the way that B springs feel for handling purposes.

Get the Tokico Mach/Bullitt set-ups. They come with all 4 front and rear shocks/struts. They are a lot firmer and you can find those kits for 300-400. I got my Mach shocks/struts for $340 shipped which isn't to bad of a price and I am happy with them for now.

KYB are a good brand of shocks. It just depends on which type of KYB you get as to how stiff they will be.

Do you have a fox body?

Is it just the fact that the B springs are to soft untill they compress?
I was looking at the KYB GR2 struts. But if they aren't any better than say...stock replacements, I wasn't going to waist my time. I'll check out the Tokico setup like you suggest. Thanks
Yes, it's a fox body

I've got a '93 Notch that I'm building for Road racing, and as far as a good bang-for-the-buck suspension upgrade, I was really happy with the following:

- Bullitt springs (similar to C-springs)
- '03 Cobra Bilstein Struts
- Bilstein HD Shocks

The Bullitt or C springs can be had for ~$100 if you look around. You can get a used, low-mile set of '03-'04 Cobra Bilstein Struts for ~$125. And you can pick up new Foxbody Bilstein HD shocks for $150.

So, you've got Bilsteins all around with 600-650 lb/in springs for ~$400, give or take.

Honestly, it was like a totally different car with those parts.

I would suggest getting Maximum Motorsports C/C plates, though, for alignment purposes, as well as bringing the struts up a little for more strut travel, because the 94+ dampers have less travel than the Fox units.

Good luck.
