Just this past week I rebuilt the entire front suspension in my vert. It initially had all original suspension components and bushings. I replaced the control arms with '89's. The spindles rotors and calipers are from an '89. Replaced all bushings with urethane. KYB struts from '89. I re-used the upper strut mount except for bushing replacement. Tie rod ends were also replaced with the addition of urethane dust covers.I re-used the frpp springs and used urethane insulators. I have the strut mounts pushed all the way to the interior of the car which should give a butload of negative camber. I still have positive camber. I don't think this is right. Have I tightened something wrong? I don't think the ball joints are worn. Could it be that the control arms are too tight to allow the car to sit at the correct height? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

No, the car has never been wrecked and the control arms from the '89 are in great shape. I was thinking that there could be enough play in the 2 bolt pattern that holds the strut to the spindle. Now that I remember, the bolt clearance holes weren't that much larger than the bolts. Could I have tightened the control arm bolts too much prior to letting the car down?

Compair the old parts with the new ones. There might be a difference in the mounting points

Okay guys, I loosened the spindle to strut bolts so that I could see the sloppy fit between the strut and spindle. This slop allowed me to adjust a couple of 1.5 to 2 degrees negative camber. It also mattered which direction I was applying the torque with my torque wrench. Now the tires sit vertical, but only with the struts adjusted all the way in. I looked at the old parts compared and there were no glaring differences between them. Next I'm going to try doing the same thing with the control arm bolts. If I tightened the control arm bushing bolts too much and clamped the metal tube in the wrong place, that could be where the rest of my negative camber is. Keep you posted.
