I have a stock 2000 gt and my bud (who i just raced) has a z28. I beat him at the two (out of four) rolling starts we just ran, but he creamed me off the line. So i was wondering if i were to change from stock rear gears to say 3.73 or 3.55 would it fix that minor detail. PLUG
The reason why you lost to the Camaro is that the LS1's have 350 hp, The GT has 260 hp. lol If you raced an LT1 then it would have been a driver's race with the edge going to the LT1's 285 hp.
If it was a lt1 it shouldnt have been close, i smoked a trans am the other day, it wasnt even close, i have a 01 gt with only a bbk intake and its a auto, but when i raced a 02 ss ls1 we were neck and neck
The LT1 is a driver's race with a 99-04 GT, more than likely the LT1 is going to win. The only way that the 99-04 GT auto is going to 'smoke' the LT1 is if the LT1 is in bad shape. People are lying to themselves if they think that the 99-04 GT stockish is going to 'smoke' a stockish LT1, it will be a close race.
I Am New To The Ford Mustangs I Just Bot One An Its A 2000 Gt 4.6 V8 5speed Coupe With K&n Cold Airinduction An Has No Mufflers Just Strait Pipes From Cats Back Just Wanted To No What Will Be The Hp On It ? An Also What Is The Mustang Doing To The Quarter Mile
Randy, I'd say your car would be around 235-245rwhp on a dynojet, and running 14 flats if you can launch it well, but thats easier said than done.
And congrats to OP, if the Camaro is an automatic LS1 and the driver is nailing it in 4th gear it's not hard to believe that you put a car length or two on him. Lord knows I lost races to slower cars before I realized that I had to knock my shifter down to "1" to race. Just don't get too cocky, LS1s have a reputation for being quick and thats not without reason.
That would also explain why the Camaro won from a dig, its hard to mess up a drag race with an automatic... all you have to do is step on the long pedal to the right when the light turns green.
