challenged by a 1999 mustang gt VS. my 1990 Mustang

His car is a convertible and straight stock . other than a K&N filter.. not the kit...just the filter...BUT his is an automatic!

And i have a 1990 convertible Lx 5 speed manual ..Stock also..only thing i have done to it is removed the air silencer...

he challenged me but i don't know if i can take him...

remember the gts got about a 60 hp boost from what your rolling in to his 99 but good luck and yeah should be a good race. PICS? Video? PPPLLLLLEEEEEEEEEEaaaaaaaseeee!

correction if yours is the v8 your engine is rated at 225hp and the 99 gt at 260hp if yours is the v6 (im sorry) you have only 86hp

Yea i know he does have a good amount of hp over me...but the fact that his is an automatic...SHOULD give me a little advantage...oh yeah and I WAS WONDERING if RACING WITH THE TOP UP OR DOWN makes a difference?...cause of air resistance and all..which would be better?

yea my **** is a v8...i wouldn't be trying to race if i had a 2.3 ltr...lol...

I think it will be a driver's race with him having the slight edge because of hp.

First of all, he's a little heavier being a convertible than a coupe. Second his auto is putting down around 215-220hp with the K&N filter. Third, If I were him I would race with the top up and windows rolled up to get the least amount of wind resistance. Good luck man

99 is heavier than the Fox body, even if it wasnt a convert top. If you're good at launching and shifting your car, you'll stomp him.

I raced a 00 GT convertable last summer with my bone stock 86 mustang Gt. The chick was all brag about how fast she was she had a K&N filter and some 4.10 gears, with an auto. My poor old 86 has 155k miles on it, never been rebuilt, is a 5-speed with 2.73 gears, not to mention I hadn't changed the air filter in mine in like 2 years...lol.

We were dead even. At about 90 I started to pull away. You should smoke the 99 if he is stock geared. I had a friend with a bone stock 90 5.0 convertable and his would pull mine. You should seriously have no problem, I wouldn't hesitate to race him...or anyone else for that matter...but that's me

I'd say make it a race for pinks! (j/k)
