I drive a full bolt on 2003 mustang gt and I was driving the other night when the 2008 subaru wrx 2.3L ?? turbo pulled up and wanted some. Well I first thought it was just another ricer and couldnt figure out what the guy was driving. We took off from a 30 roll and I had him by a fender when I hit 3rd gear at 50 I left him by a car. I was shocked when I found out it was a new WRX. We proceeded to a remote 2 lane road where we stopped and went from a dig. My car has 315 drag radials and he had all wheel drive. I honked 3 times and and we took off. I spun just a little and slammed on the throttle proceeded through 1,2,3, and got to 4th gear when my buddy said you got him. I looked in the rear view and could barely see his lights.
We met up at shell and his excuse was " I gassed it to much from the take off " I replied back isnt that all wheel drive. That made my night.
So does anyone know anything about the new WRX and should I have beaten him so bad. I mean bus links from a dig come on.

Meh, you should beat him all the time He should of got you off the line with it's AWD capability but that's the driver mod there. They seem to fall flat on their face because your tq and horsepower is higher and your flooded with bolt-ons. STi would be a different story though, make sure to race them on a roll and you can take them most of the time if not modded.

Was it a WRX or an STI? The WRX has around 230HP and around 3200lb curb weight and needs to hit 3000rpms to go on boost. The STI has around 300HP, a close-ratio 6-speed (needs 2 shifts to hit 60mph), and needs to hit 3500rpms to go on boost. A regular WRX had no business challenging you without a serious tune and some bolt ons.

The WRX STi was the first import I ever lost too in a drag race. That thing beat me three times in a row! Those things are no joke. With a mustang you always end up playing catch up because of the AWD but they also lose alot of power turning 4 wheels. This one was modded with a full exhaust and more boost, it was a beast! He wouldn't stand a chance If i raced him now.

I know what you mean they are something else. I raced a 2004? WRX last weekend and I had him all the way to the finish when he passed right at the end. He ran a 12.6 and I ran a 13.3 Heres the video. 13.3 FULL BOLT ON MUSTANG GT - Video
