How should I start street racing? Are there any good information or webpages on the internet that could help? Any recommendations? I just want to start practicing somewhere, I'm not looking to be instantly great and beat everybody's ass.
Well, I have a 16 y/o nephew that just started driving, I can say based on his performance (I have had to pull him out of ditches twice now) that drifting just takes practice.
Also, burning off is NOT always good. Traction IS good.
Check your local tracks for AUTOX, 1/4 mile events and advanced driving lessons.
BTW, drifting is a waste of time at the track, fun but a waste (even of tires).
The faster you can enter and exit a corner by correct choice of your racing line, the lower your times will be.
It takes more practice than theory, and knowledge of the track layout and curve types.
My advice for starters is a good theory handbook, there are some available at amazon.
for cheap racing that is LEGAL check out http://scca.org/ and check out SOLO I and SOLO II, it is against the clock, also, get your parrents to take you to a high performance driving school, many car clubs rent tracks out for these and they tend to run about $300 for 2 days

THANK YOU ROB!!
I've been telling people this for years.
I had to teach a guy with a 350 Camero this the hard way. Plus if I'm behind you when you do this, be prepaired to do a little spinning out!

There's only a few driving schools in my area (3 to be exact), and none of them offer advanced driving. Are there any websites that have lists of advanced driving schools?
Mainly I'm looking to improve my driving skills by learning advanced skills. I'm not trying to be the best racer in the world.

and it will show if you picked out the correct tire size for the rim realy quick.
