Default Rear brake kits for S197 2005 Mustang GT?

I figure I'll have the best luck posting this in the RR forum: looking for rear brake upgrades for my S197 2005 Mustang GT. This weekend at Streets of Willow they gave us lots of extra time on the final session of the day, which resulted in me melting down my stock rear brake system. Had me scratching my head since there was plenty of stock pad left up front. A buddy of mine suggested maybe the rear pistons are made of a different compound like bakelite and I just melted them down entirely. Regardless, pad is gone, rotors are prolly grooved and I might as well start from scratch...I was planning an upgrade anyway.

Any suggestions? All I see so far are the Steeda kit, and I think Griggs has one but that system is pretty hardcore. This is still a street car for the time being, with the only suspension mods being plus-sizing the wheels to 18", 10's in the back/9's in the front with some Nitto 555's all 'round.

Edit: The Steeda system uses stock calipers, which they claim are great. So, maybe they are out. But damn, if they are so great how did I melt them?

Default Brakes dead

Sorry you're having problems. I know that hurts! Just a thought to offer. I once had a 70 stang that had problems with the rear brakes being too strong compared to the front. I solved it with a proportioning valve. Ford sells them for about $50. The valve adjusts the effort on the brakes from front to back to balance the effort of each. It really worked for me. Good luck.

Thanks Dave. Don't think it's a bias issue...it's because I left TCS turned on during an extra-long track session at the end of the day. Not unlike yanking the handbrake on every corner exit, I'm told. "Live and learn" seems to be my current catchphrase. Expensively. I used the opportunity to upgrade to 13" rear rotors, stainless lines and street/track hybrid pads all 'round.

Default Traction Control System - Yuk!

Well, you aren't the first or last to have a problem with TCS, including me. Maybe best to use a tuner to set it off all the time. Good luck.

I have the Steeda 13" upgrade on the rear with Hawk HP+ pads and they seem to work well. I also have the 14" Stop Tech front upgrade.
