I'm finding out as much as I can about it right now - I'm thinking seriously about building my 95 GT into an AI racecar in 2 or 3 years. I need a place with a garage to work on the car in first though.

I currently don't have any open track experience, as I'm a little uncomfortable taking the car on a road course in it's current state of development without safety equipment like a rollbar, racing seat, 5-pt. harnesses, fire extinguisher, etc.. However, I have been running the car in SCCA, NASA & AAS autocross events for about 2 or 3 years now in Street Modified class, and I've attended the 3-day Skip Barber racing school at Laguna Seca which was great experience and fun. I'll probably go the route people are suggesting and run HPDE events for at least a year if/when I decide to take the car off the street and convert it into a dedicated racecar.
There are a couple of AI-West events that I could go to this year, at Sears Point and Reno, and I'd like to come watch the racing and look around the pits to observe. I looked around the AI webpages but I didn't see any links to race tickets or anything like that... how does one get into an AI event? Is it free admission where anyone can just show up and watch, or are there tickets at the gate, or what?
