Default New to autocross

I participated in my first Autocross event about two weeks ago. It was a practice event and I got 14 laps in. To my surprise I was was the only Mustang owner present. I have a 2006 GT with a five speed, that is bone stock. I was wondering if those of you with Autocross experience could offer some advice. I'm itching to upgrade my car but, I've that that its better to remain inthe stock class until I gain more experience. Also I currently running on the stock 17" pirellis.

I would look at the mods your alowed in stock class and try some of them. After you get comfortable there move up in the classes.

About the only modifications allowed in the stock classes are soft compound tires, a front swaybar, air filter (but not a cold air intake) brake pads, and a harness (in which I am desperate need of after this weekends autocross as evidenced by the black and blue right hip from the seat belt)

The first thing to upgrade would be the tires, after that it would be the tires, and then you might want to think about the tires. And that is a quote from one of the national champions that races in my club

I am still on my 17" Pirelli's myself and trying to figure out what tires to put on my new set of wheels. I am thinking about the Nitto 555's myself

Oh yeah....you can use adjustable shocks and struts as long as they don't have more than 4 adjustments and coil overs are definitely not allowed.
