We all have a car that we want to be able to smoke....A friend of mine just got an '06 GTO has the 6.0 LS2 400 hp stock...........Any suggestions of where to start to build up some hp and torque?
I would agree. Stock your carhas about 260 hp. You are gonna have to do more than just minor things to be able to smoke a GTO. Not knocking mustangs in the least but those things are nice. I would like tohave one. I know that there are many many diferent options out there for 4.6l mustangs as far as super chargers go. You could always add boost coolers later and get a little more boost going. That is my reccomendation.
A crate motor would be a good option too. I am curious as to what you decide. Let us know. The car I got my sights on is a stage 3 srt4. I guess they are nice cars but too many times the people i have seen driving them think they own the road. Smokin one would be a bit easier if i had a v8. Sadly i only have a 6. So my goal is to be able to beat a stage one srt4 with out a turbo or super charger. From there i will progress. Monday I hope to be installing the Hydrogen kit i have been putting off for months now.
Anyway. good luck to your endeavor at owning the gto. Let us know what happens.
This has nothing to do with Road Racing, but if it DID, I would suggest you first tune yourself. Learn how to properly control your car, then start building the chassis. These car's are horribly sloppy around corners, if he's out cornering you, then you need to build this up.
Since you're probably talking about some pathetic highway race, I'll agree with everyone else, supercharge, call it a day.
Move this thread to somewhere else. . .

ok first i would have to agree the 6.0 gto is bad ass, but there is a big prob with them! just like every car with lots of power enless u have the tires to hook up 400 hp does not mean nothing, i have 2 friends that have 6.0s and both are moded to around 450hp and they cant hook up to save there lives. one of my friends took it to the track with newer tires given they wernt nito 555 or nothing but they were wider and better then stock and he was running mid 14s because he was all over the place. so where i am getting is if u do the basics of intake, throtle body, programmer and exhaust and keep desent rubber on it you should be able to hold your own on the street. (i am talking drag race, highway drop maybe not so much lol)
Also pass them up on the road course with ease.
This past year on the road course was a blast, me and a buddy with a similar modded s197 were tearing apart a pair of GTO's
