Default You can run an old car..........................

Keep in mind, you do not have to run a late model in American Iron. I run with the boys on the East Coast and mine is a "65.

Good Racing,

That is a nice car, How does she hold up against the late model cars?

Ron, mine is a low budget '65 and will run mid to back of pack. It is "vintage legal" and has good straight line speed but lacks cornering as would be expected. A couple of the ones in the attached pic have exceptional straight line speed (347's) which makes up for the short comings in cornering.

This is going to be great racing as the early models flow into the series. Right now mine is the oldest AIX car but more are coming. Some of the attached are down to 2600# with 347's so just about anyone can do the numbers. Most of the attached cars are going to run Lowes which is a horsepower track and well suited for early models. Going to be interesting.

Great stuff and it is going to be fun!!! Thanks for the interest!!!

Thanks for letting me know. That sounds great about using the classic Stangs. Good luck.

Ron, after retirement (and I am not that far away), I will be hauling the car out to the west coast to do some tracks with you guys. My goal is to be on every major track in the country by funeral time. Have hit most up and down the east coast and Summit Point will be added in a few weeks. That only leaves Lime Rock. Then on to Mid Ohio, Mid America, etc.

A buddy of mine who lives in S.F. area did this a few years ago (brought his ride to the East Coast) and it looked like a lot of fun. Can't wait to do the "corkscrew". Saw it a few years ago in person and TV just does not do it justice.

Thanks,

Sounds like a great plan you have working there. Good luck, and we will be looking for you when you make it out here.
